Hey girlies! I know I haven't been on in what seems like forever, but I'm back. It's summer time, today was the last day for me. I thought that some advice for incoming freshman would be really helpful. It's been a fun year, and I hope to share the rest of my years with you guys.
I know on the first day I was nervous as crap, but it seems like just two weeks ago I started Freshman year, but now I'm a Sophomore. Don't be nervous on the first day. Of course the lockers and upperclassman and schedule looks scary, but don't be fooled. Once you find yourself, you have nothing to worry about. You might not have friends on the first day or any people you like, but trust me you'll find out who you love and hate.
Also, respect the upperclassman, if they tell you to move, move. But, do not get bullied or pushed around. Respect them, but not be their slave. I've bonded with alot of the upperclassman, and they have been so sweet. Others are bitter, but that shouldn't put you down. Look at the four years as an experience that you will never forget.
Do your homework. Your middle school teachers are saying, Highschool won't baby you, but they do. It's not really different from middle school. You probably have harder classes and a little bit more freedom, but other than that, nothing has changed. Make sure you get all the extra credit opportunities as possible. Why? Because in highschool the only thing that matters is your semester grade, so make everything the highest GPA because you will want to graduate as top 10 percent in your class.
Stay organized. I know I didn't really. I kind just went like whatever a lot of the times, but make sure to keep every class in different binders or folders. Then, please bring a backpack or tote bag, because caring forty binders isn't going to be fun. Just saying.
Make sure to be nice because you are getting a new start it's a new school, new people, new teachers, new judgements on you. Make sure you try to be the best person you can be. Also, you'll always have one teacher you are very close to. I discovered mine in 7th grade, but more gradually towards 8th grade, but he is such a great teacher and helped me with a lot of things. Bond with a teacher because not all of them are evil. But for me this Freshman year, I personally don't like any of my teachers. Sorry not sorry. But I do like my band directors. The others are either I have no comment on them or I hate them.
Also, freshman I discovered a lot of new friends. I didn't really lose any friends, I became a lot closer with my best friend. But others we have grown apart slightly. But you will discover new people and realize sometimes people aren't who they seem. Remember not to get caught in drama. It's stupid, just focus on why you are here, to learn, to make friends, to have fun, and to grow as a person.
Join clubs, or anything. You'll meet a lot of people. Band has definitely helped me bond with a lot of my friends. I also sang with a special group and participated in drama. It's fun and you get community service hours that look amazing on your college resume. Trust me.
I hope your freshman year will be amazing. I had a great year with everyone. I thank God for the many blessings. I would really love to hear about your experiences!
